Replatform of a BBC Player - Designed to capture the demand for BBC/British content in Asia

From May 2017 to June 2018 I led a team of 2 UX designers on the redesign of BBC Player digital experience. My responsibilities included high-level strategic design direction, user research direction, facilitation of concept ideation workshops, aligning key stakeholders on product/UX goals, designing user flows, visual design direction, overseeing creation of a modular design system and methods of incorporating user feedback into design iterations.

The Brief

BBC launched BBC Player in Singapore and Malaysia early in 2017. It was designed to capture the demand for BBC/British content in Asia. Unfortunately the first iteration was flawed, and built quickly by an external agency. The goal of this project was to replatform the experience on a new CMS with updated front end design.

My role: Lead UX designer

I was in charge of:

  • Research including synthesisation
  • Ideation
  • Translation of lo-fi prototypes into mid-fi prototypes
  • Front end component library
  • Validation through user testing
  • Accessibility
